Fahrenheit

Fahrenheit is a unit of measurement of temperature.

The freezing/melting point of water is about 32 °F at a pressure of 1 atmosphere.

The symbol of Fahrenheit degrees is °F.

Fahrenheit to Celsius conversion

0 degrees Fahrenheit is equal to -17.77778 degrees Celsius:

0 °F = -17.77778 °C

The temperature T in degrees Celsius (°C) is equal to the temperature T in degrees Fahrenheit (°F) minus 32, times 5/9:

T(°C) = (T(°F) - 32) × 5/9

Example

Convert 68 degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius:

T(°C) = (68°F - 32) × 5/9 = 20 °C

Fahrenheit to Rankine conversion

0 degrees Fahrenheit is equal to 459.67 degrees Rankine:

0 °F = 459.67 °R

The temperature T in degrees Rankine (°R) is equal to the temperature T in degrees Fahrenheit (°F) plus 459.67:

T(°R) = T(°F) + 459.67

Example

Convert 68 degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Rankine:

T(°R) = 68°F + 459.67 = 527.67 °R

Fahrenheit to Kelvin conversion

The temperature T in Kelvin (K) is equal to the temperature T in degrees Fahrenheit (°F) plus 459.67, times 5/9:

T(K) = (T(°F) + 459.67)× 5/9

Example

Convert 60 degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Kelvin:

T(K) = (60°F + 459.67)× 5/9 = 288.71 K
